Physician-scientists have made significant contributions in many fields of science and medicine, including infectious diseases. Developing and sustaining a robust research program while maintaining clinical skills can pose unique challenges, particularly during post-doctoral training and early faculty years. In collaboration with partners in the MGH ID Division and Ragon Institute, the lab has an interest in building mentorship, sponsorship, and structural supports to help physician-scientists develop careers that blend clinical care and research. Together with Drs. Lenette Lu and Doug Kwon, Amy guest edited a Journal of Infectious Diseases Supplement dedicated to reflections on this career path.
